FAQ

I have never played cricket before. Can I join as a beginner?

Yes of course. Our club's aim is to help develop new players in Estonia. We like to encourage newcomers young or old - everyone is welcome regardless of age/nationality etc.

I would like to play cricket. How do I start?

Just turn up. Come along to a traning session or if you prefer just start by coming to watch us play a match, we play often throughout the summer.  Or simply post a note in the forum and introduce yourself.

Do I have to become a member?

If you want to play regularly, then you should although you will not be forced to.
It is possible to join in as a guest but we always give priority to those who have paid membership. The money we collect through this is needed to keep the club going and cover our costs.

How often are matches played in Tallinn?

Usually 3-4 weekends a month during summer and with competitive games normally on Friday night and Saturday afternoons.

Where is the Estonian Cricket Club's ground?

On the field in the middle of the Tallinn Hippodrome (Paldinski mnt 50)... yes 6 runs if you hit a horse!

Do I have to be able to speak English?

No, not at all. We are a mix of many nationalities, most people speak English and Estonian. We also speak Australian, Hindi, Welsh, Russian, South African, New Zealandish, Indian, Finnish, French & Ukranian.

What is the standard of cricket?

We have players with a wide range of experience and abilities. We are comparable to an average non-league UK side.

Can I bring my team on tour to Tallinn?

We host many touring teams each year. Fixtures are arranged from December onwards each year for the following season. If you would like to play against the ECA in Tallinn please contact us discuss options.

Where can I get cricket equipment?

We have all necessary equipment which everyone may use, and many regular players have their own personal gear. There is nowhere in the Estonian selling cricket gear, ours is brought in from England and Australia. If there is something special you need, James can organise it for you!

How can I get a player profile on the ECA website?

It's for people who are getting involved regularly, so that it represents the real faces of the club. Have a word with Tim if you would like to have your profile on the site.
